To describe and characterize the potential for malignancy of noncalcified lung nodules adjacent to fissures that are often found in current or former heavy smokers who undergo computed tomography (CT) for lung cancer screening.

Baseline and follow-up thin-section multi-detector CT scans obtained in 146 consecutive subjects at high risk for lung cancer (age range, 50-75 years;. 30 pack-year smoking history) were retrospectively reviewed. Noncalcified nodules (NCNs) were categorized according to location (parenchymal, perifissural), shape, septal connection, manually measured diameter, diameter change, and lung cancer outcome at 7 years.

“Background: For intramucosal undifferentiated early gastric cancer (EGC), gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy

is now the standard therapy. However, because approximately 96% of intramucosal undifferentiated EGC do not have BB-94 price lymph node metastasis (LNM). Gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy may be overtreatment for such patients. This study was conducted to identify clinicopathological factors predictive of LNM in undifferentiated EGC and further to expand the possibility of using endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the treatment of undifferentiated EGC.

Methods: Data from 108 patients with undifferentiated EGC and surgically treated were collected, and the association between the clinicopathological factors and the presence of LNM were retrospectively analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses.
